my favorite part.

Really, the best thing about Christmas? Talking to my amazing little brother. Yes, the many, many wonderful presents from J were nice and spending time with the cute nieces and nephew and watching them open presents we got them was fun, too. But Kyle's such a stud and I'm proud of him and that was my favorite part.

three words:

i know you're jealous.

the other just as fabulous stuff?
little buddy's first christmas! and our first christmas by ourselves, we stayed at home instead of spending the night at hubby's family's house.
seeing my family, especially my grandma who is visiting from san diego on christmas eve
new pjs!
hubby got me fun new scrapbooking stuff and makeup (which i sorely needed)
visiting the in-laws and relaxing
playing trivial pursuit, and i WON! yay!
seeing how happy hubby was to get his new game, which he knew he was getting anyway. he is playing it now. he's been bugging me for a week about it. :)
really awesome new emergency kits
yummy yummy food
bubble bath :)
having a wonderful christmas.
i don't have to go to work tomorrow!

did i mention my birthday is on tuesday? yep. tuesday. that's in five days.

free at last

I am done.
I took my final final last night.
And now I am done.

?

wednesday:
went to lunch at golden corral with hubby, little buddy, and my in-laws. i had some yummy bbq chicken.
my boss passed out christmas bonuses! $150 before taxes and crap...so $138. i was thrilled.
we went christmas shopping!

yesterday:
i came home from work and hubby had folded and put away all the laundry.
we went to taco bell for dinner

music and more

Teddy Thomson and Rufus Wainwright: King of the Road
Rufus and Martha Wainwright: Hallelujah
Rufus Wainwright in general.

Water. Water tasted really good today.
Bro. G. gave me more compliments than I know what to do with.
J bought me cute gloves last Christmas. I remembered this today. Now I just have to find them...
The L's told us about a great new restaurant in town. JL told me that when they go to restaurants they think about who would win if they were iron cheffing it against the restaurant (this statement pretty much made my day). And this restaurant would beat them. That's saying something.
For example, BL whipped up some tomato basil goat cheese pastries while we were over.
I now want to become a chef. Or a taste tester.
Soooo close to being done.

Five words to describe the good things that have happened to me lately: last day of school ever.

yesterday, december 13

we had christmas early and opened the gift for me and hubby: diamond edition scrabble! so we played scrabble and i actually won! (i hardly ever win!) i got really lucky...right at the end, x on a triple letter, ended up with 50 whopping points for one word.

we went to the sunflower farmers market and spent way too much money, but got really yummy food. we had italian dry salami, brie, and gouda on bruschetta as an appetizer, then thick yummy steaks and sauteed portobello mushrooms for dinner, with martinelli's apple-cranberry sparkling cider to drink. um, yeah, YUM! i even broke out the fine china, placemats, and chargers and we ate by candlelight/christmas light.

my check was $40 more than we thought, which is why we spent so much $$$ at the farmers market.

i downloaded the entire twilight soundtrack plus a bunch of other fun songs (including a whole slew of taylor swift) and put them on my phone. i got a new ringtone, too, of my new favorite song.

in downloading the twilight soundtrack, i discovered a band called paramore that i adore.

i also decided i absolutely have to learn how to play "bella's lullaby" on the piano.

and i downloaded clair de lune which i love. then layed in bed and played it over and over again for about 20 minutes and relaxed.

friday friday friday

baby slept past 8.
hubby came home early from work.
we met vincent d'onforio and hubby got his copy of "full metal jacket" autographed. (he was so excited, it was so cute!)
i got comments on my blog today! really! honestly! actual comments!
someone brought the firm strawberry cheesecake from the cheesecake factory and it was delish.
i got to go to the court to file a complaint, so i got to get paid to sing loudly in my car.
that new taylor swift song came on THREE TIMES and i sang at the top of my lungs and was wistfully romantic. yay.

My AP score showed up. It's official. I don't have to take freshman English.
We got J a nice coat for Christmas.
And we ran into Caitie and Andy.
J didn't have to work.
We went to Zupas. I love Zupas.
I checked proofs and made corrections and turned in new files so my book will be even better (and less expensive).
Oh we bought the cutest dress for the cutest baby in the world. Ahhhh, it's so cute. All of the adorable clothes in baby Gap actually almost made me baby hungry. Almost.

Monday, December 8, 2008

that's better

I turned in my AP English score so I can graduate and don't have to take freshman English.
It is snowing.
I brought my book to the press and so it is out of my hands and I don't have to worry about it anymore.
J very kindly went to the press with me.
Mondays are always good because Kyle writes. And even though I forget that it is Monday (and thus forget to write him), he is still the best brother and writes me. He's pretty inspiring.
Caitie came over and we made muddy buddies and watched gilmore girls.
(why do I always talk about junk food when I am talking about good things? junk food isn't good for me. I need to figure this out.)
I finished some work that I wasn't expecting to finish.
I finished some other work that I desperately needed to finish.
I listened to u2 on vinyl. I didn't know that I liked u2 but I listened to it and danced around the living room.
I sent j my christmas list. All books. books books books. The fact that there are books in the world makes everything else a lot better, don't you think?

forgetful

I haven't felt like being positive, so I haven't been. It's funny how when you don't feel like being positive you can totally ignore all the positive things in your life.

Here are some things I remember from the last few days:

More Take5s. J is so good to me. And I know Take5s don't seem like much, but they really make all the difference.
He even went to see Twilight with me. And it is even better the second time. And J does a perfect Jasper impression.
I'm almost done.
I got to bring the cutest baby in the world (um, she totally is; sorry C!) to church with me. And even though mom totally stole her from me, it was okay because she is cute and I like her and I like mom too.
Isn't it the cutest thing in the world when the cutest baby in the world lifts up her arms because she wants you to hold her? It is.

I know I am forgetting a lot of good things.

it's the mooooorning of a mooooonday

i had yummy turkey soup today.
the baby woke up and was in a good mood (which is great because he's been so cranky for the last two days.)
i got new christmas socks from my mother in law yesterday and they are soft and warm.
i drank apple beer. yum.
i'm drinking pepsi. yum again.
we have a new tree topper. it's a star that lights up. i think it is pretty.
the baby is taking a nap.
christmas is coming...christmas is coming...christmas is coming!

return from the blogging dead

i'm not slacking anymore and posting! (sorry kaitlyn!)
we went to a christmas tree display and had fun fun fun.
our christmas party was freaking awesome.
we went christmas shopping for little buddy today. got some cute stuff and a fun thing for us! then got to come home and wrap them. i LOVE LOVE LOVE wrapping presents.
hubby had the day off today, and tomorrow!
looking forward to tomorrow--we're going to this awesome science display, then up to the in-laws to decorate their tree.
i'm chillaxin' tonight, blogging, and elf-ing myself.

six more things

Joseph brought me dinner.
People were nice at Schwa tonight.
Last pub lab meeting of the semester (this is bitter sweet).
I watched A Series of Unfortunate Events "for class."
I made muddy buddies on Sunday and they lasted all the way to today! Amazing!
I was soooo on top of my work.

Wednesday, December 3, 2008

2 good things

Joseph brought me a sandwich and TWO take5s. I freaking love take5s.
Brother Gardner showed his class my portfolio and he liked it so much he asked me to make him a copy of my portfolio to keep to show future classes.

baby

I babysat the cutest baby in the world and she didn't even cry (that much).
Caitie allowed me to hang out with her (and Andy and Amy and Andrea). For 3 hours. Doing nothing.
Did I mention that I babysat the cutest baby in the world?

Monday, December 1, 2008

It's December?

It's December. It's December. It's December. I can't believe it.
I graduate THIS MONTH.
Christmas music on Pandora. And I wasn't even playing it—Amanda was. I love it when other people are in there and I still get to listen to music loudly. (I love it more when no one is in there and I get to listen to my music and sing along.)
I got 50/50 on my last two editing exercises.
I reread this really good paper I wrote about a year ago. I actually wrote a good paper! I remember I actually started working on this paper like a month before it was due. That never happens. And it was totally worth it.
I read. Oh, I shouldn't have read because I have so much to do. But I love reading. And I found more books on Amazon that I want. And I sat on the couch and admired my library for a little bit. I'm seriously obsessed and I love it. I might have a problem...
The moon and those two planets made a smiley face. I was told this is cool.
There was an AWESOME sunset. Seriously beautiful. I should have taken a picture.

Sunday, November 30, 2008

Sunday = good

Combined priesthood/relief society = more time with J.
Awesome lesson on staying out of debt = trying to get J to pay attention.
More muddy buddies. (this probably is not a good thing. But I LOVE them.)
The Lepinskis. Seriously. I love those guys. Delicious food and lots of laughs. It couldn't get any better.
Night time bike ride to my parents house. Sure, there aren't enough street lights on my street so it was a little scary, and my hands and ears about froze off, and that hill is a lot steeper than you think it is when you're driving up it and I learned that I am desperately out of shape, but it's nice to be close enough to ride my bike.
I did not reread Twilight, even though that movie seriously tempted me to. This is a good thing. I don't have time to be in love with a vampire.

Twilight!!

I saw twilight with cornnut! It was awesome! Terribly, terribly full of cheese, but it was fun to watch and laugh at. And I don't care what you say C, I think Edward is a hottie. And this is funny. And it was fantastic to see C again.
I ate more pie.
I finally had that "staff meeting" I've been wanting to have for ages.
3 words: Pizza [and] Planet Earth. Mmm.

Seriously, I think I would see Twilight again. It was just so bad! That terrible acting! Jasper's hair! And facial expression! Oh, so many awful things...

another successful day

today i went to see twilight with kaitlyn.e, who drove allllll the way to my house to get me. hubby was such a doll and watched little buddy so i could go. although the movie wasn't that great, i did laugh through it, and it was good to see her!

i got my house all decorated for christmas minus the tree. we're doing that tomorrow. and can i say, it is fabulous. i have garlands this year, which makes me happy. i'm excited to get the tree up. :)

went to the store with hubby. he bought me coke. yum. and let me walk up and down the christmas aisle...again. (i can't help it, i'm drawn to it.)

got my laundry folded and my house somewhat clean.

FINALLY saw the end of "along came polly." i have never seen that movie all the way through, but have seen most of it in pieces. a few times. so it was good to finally see how it ended.

Friday, November 28, 2008

I woke up early and went shopping! My first black friday shopping experience ever. And it wasn't even that bad. I feel bad for the stores and the economy, actually. It really wasn't any worse than any other day of shopping. Mom bought me some nice clothes for christmas for my internship. Whew.
I took a nap in the office chair. Not terribly comfortable, but somewhat refreshing.
I feel excited about the future.
Leftover enchilada for lunch = delicious.
PIE with the family! Banana cream! Chocolate cream! Pumpkin! Lemon meringue!
I have the cutest niece in the entire world.
PIE! Leftover pie. and whipped cream.
My dad is awesome, for numerous reasons.
My mom is also awesome, for numerous reasons.

Thanksgiving!

Today is Thanksgiving. So I got to eat turkey and delicious gravy and mashed potatoes and yams and rolls and chocolate cream pie and pumpkin pie oh, and cheese and crackers and shrimp. We had dinner at the in-laws and they invited my parents to come too (poor empty nesters were going to have Thanksgiving alone!), so it was the best of both worlds.
Joseph swiffered the living room.
I didn't do any work.
I got to read.
I had a nice talk with my dad. I like it when he talks with me. He's a pretty great guy.
I'm going to bed early. And I'm going to read some more.

Wednesday, November 26, 2008

twas the day before thanksgiving...

it's the day before thanksgiving = no work and no school
enchiladas for dinner.
good books. i love good books. i'm reading like 5 good books right now.
we went to harmon's for groceries. i love living so much closer to harmons. it's such a nice grocery store. now if only i lived closer to that one in draper...
mom told me about the delicious delicious pies she is making for tomorrow.
i ate some life cereal. i love whoever invented life cereal.
i also love whoever invented text messaging: i had a nice text-message-conversation with a friend.
a random person commented on my blog! someone actually read my blog! (oh, that actually happened yesterday. well, i'm still excited about it today.)

Tuesday, November 25, 2008

caitie's mom told me i'm artsy. silly lady.

dr. baker so very kindly canceled class today.
joseph and i had lunch together on that deck thing outside the fourth floor of the jfsb. (i know that doesn't make sense if you don't already know what i'm talking about.)
i am excited to do things with my life.
i picked up a copy of the humanities alumni magazine, which i helped put together.
it is caitie's birthday. so i made her a little accordion card and she liked it. and i got to eat cupcakes and cake and ice cream. and i got to see her family again. i miss them.
i convinced joseph to get serious about that project i've been bugging him about.
joseph ran a bunch of errands while i was at work.
i bought some cute candles and set them up.

sitting around in my pjs

i got my christmas cards finished today!

it is tuesday, which means only one work day left this week. hallelujia!

i found $8 by my car door in the parking lot today. that bought dinner at wendy's. yum.

we went to toys r us and looked at toys for little buddy for christmas. he really loves things that vibrate--we found this cute little monster that vibrates when you hit it and says something really cute about a rumbly in his tummy or something but i can't remember. little buddy giggled like crazy when he was holding it--so cute! too bad it was ages 2 and up. but we found a cute vibrating ball in the shape of an animal at wal-mart that is (the giggle and wiggle cow/pig/chicken). so cute. that's a definite gift.

i'm really looking forward to all of the fun stuff during the next couple of weeks!

only one month until christmas!

little buddy learned to climb stairs today.

Monday, November 24, 2008

secret yells about sewing editing shows...

No one was in the secret lab, so I got to listen to pandora loudly and sing along.
I heard a girl yell "My tampon's just gonna fall out!" on campus.
I finished sewing a bag!
I finished my editing homework.
I watched several episodes of the Cosby show.

I rock

20 November:

Joseph filled up my water bottle, and I didn't even have to ask him to do so.

I ate more muddy buddies.

I watched more gilmore girls.

I found this website.

I downloaded some tom waits from hypem.

cornnut told me that I rock. (the highlight of my day.)

real estate

we got a call from our realtor yesterday. they had an appointment to show our house. yay!

unfortunately the people who wanted to see it missed their flight from idaho, so they didn't get to look at it.

this was a good thing, because the call came last minute (while i was at work) and hubby had to clean the house really quickly by himself. this gave me time to clean more this morning, because, YAY, they are VERY INTERESTED and rescheduled the showing for this afternoon.

19 November 2008

Brother Gardner canceled the class that he was going to have me teach next week. (This is a very good thing.)

He also called me "the best" (in reference to my editing skills/internship). I'm sure part of it is just that he's a nice person (I know that was kind of negative, but I'm new at this), but it was still really nice to hear.

Brother Gardner also told me that I made the right choice about my internship. (I was considering holding out for a different internship with the Church magazines.) It's nice to know.

I got to talk to Emma.

I really like the sounds station on pandora.

Wyatt asked me to take pictures for him on Friday. And to sew him something. I'm good at neither photography nor sewing, but it still made me feel good that he asked.

Caitie came over.

We made muddy buddies.

I ate muddy buddies.

and we watched Gilmore Girls.

Intern

Good things that happened to me last Monday:

I was offered an internship.

Good things that happened to me last Friday:

I accepted an internship.

Bread

Good things that happened today:

A lady in my ward brought us a loaf of homemade bread as a welcome to the neighborhood gift. I ate some with honey on it and it was good.

The end.

we are scientists

We all know what a scientific mind I have (seriously, could I be any more left-brained?). So, in the spirit of science, I have decided to conduct an experiment. If I act like my glass is half full, will I feel like my glass is half full? I'm here to find out.
